There is no official start date for Labor Day sales, but in the past retailers have begun offering their Labor Day deals two weeks before the actual holiday weekend — sometimes sooner. This year, Labor Day weekend starts on Friday, September 1, so deals will probably start showing up on Friday, August 18.

Most of this year’s Labor Day sales will end at midnight EST on Monday, September 4, but it’s not uncommon for retailers to extend the sale or offer similar (but not as stellar) deals.

If history repeats itself (and it usually does with sales), you’ll see plenty of Labor Day deals on mattresses, furniture, appliances and electronics. With summer ending, you’ll also see discounts on summer-specific items, including outdoor furniture, grills and pool toys.
